A tow truck driver has escaped injury after their vehicle was crushed by a plane at a US airport.

An American Airlines Boeing 737 was being moved from its hangar to the gate at LaGuardia Airport in New York to prepare for departure on August 2.

Footage shows the tow vehicle pulling the plane and making a sharp turn on the runway. However, the jet's momentum sent it spinning towards the cab.

It then collided and flattened the truck.

Fortunately, the driver managed to duck just in time to avoid decapitation.

He was seen pinned between the cab and the plane but was reportedly unharmed.
