Truck driver denies causing death of family man Clive Atkinson, 65

A truck driver has denied causing the death of a 65-year-old man. Kevin McManus, 41, appeared at Bolton Magistrates’ Court today (November 23) charged with causing the death of Clive Atkinson by careless driving. Mr McManus, of Elton Avenue, Farnworth, pleaded not guilty to causing Mr Atkinson’s death by driving a DAF CF 330 truck on Back Bradford Street East, in The Haulgh, without due care and attention.

In a joint statement, following his death, Mr Atkinson’s family said: “Our whole family is devastated by this awful incident.

“Clive will be sadly missed by his wife – Lorraine, son – Daniel, daughters – Heidi and Keeley, daughter-in-law – Leesa and all his grandchildren.”
